In 1948 zionist militias unleashed a campaign of terror across Palestine; destroying hundreds of villages, displacing hundreds of thousands of people, and conducting dozens of massacres. These zionist militias would go on to reorganize and became the newly established state of "israel's" formal military. The zionist state was founded on genocide and mass displacement and it continues this legacy 78 years later.
Through 78 years of the ongoing Nakba, Palestinians on their land and in diaspora have been in the struggle for establishing a Palestinian state. Their courage has been a powerful source of inspiration for the entire world and for all those who struggle for self-determination.
Palestine Solidarity Grand Rapids regularly commemorates the Nakba and hosts community events to educate and uphold the right of return for all Palestinians.
