Support the Children of Gaza
Palestine Solidarity Grand Rapids has been working tirelessly since 2021 to raise the issue of Palestinian justice in west Michigan. In 2024, we hosted over 100 events: weekly marches, educational and cultural events, petitioning our elected officials at every level of government, and raising thousands of dollars for Palestinian families. Our work was recently honored at the Michigan Chapter National Lawyers Guild Legacy Dinner for our contributions to liberation in the state. While we are honored and humbled, we know there is so much more to do.
The Palestinian people need us now more than ever. Gaza’s population was more than 50% children prior to October 2023, and those children are suffering horrific violence unlike anything we could imagine. It is with this in mind that Palestine Solidarity Grand Rapids has decided to organize a March Against Genocide, June 26 to June 30. We will be walking more than 70 miles from Grand Rapids to Lansing to raise money for Playgrounds for Palestine, so displaced children can have joy in their lives, and HEAL Palestine, which has brought Palestinian amputee children to Michigan for prosthetics and medical attention to give them a semblance of normalcy.
As community-minded people, we know it is our responsibility to step up and fight for the global community, but we need your help. Palestine Solidarity Grand Rapids is seeking both financial sponsorship and in-kind donations of food, water, and supplies for our five-day walk. We are also seeking endorsements from businesses and organizations, accommodations along our route, and donations to the organizations mentioned above. We are also asking people to walk with us on as many days as they are able.
