Palestine Solidarity Grand Rapids Will Kick Off The March Against Genocide on Thursday, June 26th at 7:30AM
With more than $6,000 gained in donations so far for the Walk Against Genocide, over 100 people scheduled to walk the 10-15 mile daily distance and 50 people walking all five days, Palestine Solidarity of Grand Rapids is honored to kick off this historic event with a press conference and rally on Thursday morning at 7:30 am at Fountain Street Church.
Press and community are invited to attend as the marchers are sent off on their route, around 8AM Thursday, June 26.
The first day of the event will end with a community education session hosted by Lowell United Church of Christ at 6 pm, 865 Lincoln Lake Ave SE.
Our community in Michigan has graciously stepped in to provide meals, water, transportation, medical, and logistic support for those making the trek. Folks are expected to come from as far as Traverse City, Wisconsin, California, and many other neighboring cities and states to join the contingent.
The 75+ mile march from Grand Rapids to Lansing will conclude with special VIP guests and a rally at the state capitol in Lansing on Monday, June 30th at 5:30PM. Walkers will stage at Noosh Afghan restaurant and invite the Lansing community to join the march for the final 3 miles to the capitol at 4PM. Organizers are coordinating with Lansing for Palestine to host the closing event.
The March Against Genocide is a reminder for our community and our world of what Palestinians are enduring every day through displacement, bombardment and forced famine. PSGR will use this moment to elevate the plight of Palestine and bring awareness to the needs of the beneficiaries of this fundraiser: Heal Palestine and Playgrounds for Palestine.
